NVTC Writes Letter in Support of Warner-Chambliss Veterans Employment Amendments to NDAA
NVTC Chair Sudhakar Kesavan and President and CEO Bobbie Kilberg wrote a letter to Senator Carl Levin, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, and Senator James Inhofe, ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, expressing NVTC’s strong support for three veterans employment amendments to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The amendments, which were introduced by Senators Mark Warner and Saxby Chambliss, aim to facilitate the hiring and training of recently discharged veterans by businesses who contract with the federal government. NVTC and the Professional Services Council (PSC) proposed the changes in thedocument "National Policy Framework to Facilitate the Employment and Retention of Veterans," released in June 2013.
NVTC aims to promote veteran employment among its member companies and throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. In August 2013, NVTC launched a Veterans Employment Initiative to connect recently discharged veterans to employment opportunities with Virginia’s technology companies.
