Vote to Name CIT Metro Stop ‘Innovation Center’

Construction is currently underway to extend Metrorail to Dulles International Airport and Loudoun County, and Phase 2 of the proposed project will include a stop next to the Center for Innovative Technology (CIT) building where the NVTC office is located. Metro and Fairfax County are asking for opinions on proposed names for the eight Silver Line stations, including Station 8, the CIT stop.

CIT would like to name Station 8, “Innovation Center.” CIT has been working to transform its land holdings into a nationally recognized center for innovation and has plans for a smart growth, transit-oriented development that includes a mix of high-rise research, office, residential and retail establishments directly connected to the new Metro stop and Dulles International Airport. Naming the Metro stop to reflect this emphasis would be great branding.

NVTC members are encouraged to support the naming of the CIT Metro stop as Innovation Center. Please fill out the Metro survey, select “Other” for Station 8 and type in “Innovation Center.” The survey must be completed by March 21 at 5 p.m. To access the survey, click here.
