John May

New Vantage Group (NVG)

John May is the managing partner of New Vantage Group ("NVG"), a Vienna, Virginia-based firm that innovatively mobilizes private equity capital into early-stage companies. NVG administers four regional angel groups which include over 300 individual members and has three joint ventures with sister organizations. Over the last 20 years, John has been an advisor to, or a general partner of, five early-stage venture capital funds, including the UK-based Seraphim Capital formed in 2006. John is an authority on "angel" investors and is the co-author of Every Business Needs an Angel (Crown Business: 2001). John is chair-emeritus of the Angel Capital Association and is a lead instructor for the association's "Power of Angel Investing" seminars and founding member of the World Business Angels Association. In 2003, he co-edited with Elizabeth O'Halloran a book and multimedia CD entitled State of the Art: An Executive Briefing on Cutting-Edge Practices in American Angel Investing (Darden Publishing). He is a Batten Fellow at the University of Virginia's Darden Business School.

Matt Jacobson

Matt Jacobson is a business strategist, problem solver and transaction facilitator who has helped many early stage companies define and execute their business plans. Matt oversees all of the activities of LaunchBox Digital including operations, administration, investments and programming.

Previously Matt held the position of Vice President at AOL where he lead major strategic corporate initiatives, and helped define and grow AOL's wireless and digital service businesses. Matt previously served as an M&A advisor at a number of investment banks including ABN AMRO, WR Hambrecht, Peter J. Solomon Co. and Toronto Dominion Securities.

Matt received an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a BA from the University of Pennsylvania.
