Chason leads Pillsbury's Northern Virginia Corporate & Securities - Technology practice. He practices principally in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and corporate finance. His clients include strategic buyers, private equity groups and sellers primarily in the government IT, defense and aerospace sectors.
Over the last five years, Chason has served as lead corporate counsel in a number of significant merger and acquisition transactions within the government contracting sector. These transactions include: HPTi's sale to DRC; TPG's majority investment in Artel; Forbes Analytic's sale to KEYW Corporation; NCI Information Systems' s acquisition of AdvanceMed from CSC; Global Defense Technology & Systems acquisition of Signature Government Solutions; Technology Associates sale to Raytheon; Veritas Analytics sale to Camber; Argotek's sale to Cobham; Sentech's sale to SRA; ITSolutions sale to Snow Phipps; CherryRoad Group's sale to Veritas Capital; RSIS's sale to Wyle Laboratories; NCI Information System's acquisition of Karta Technology; QSS's sale to Perot Systems and Dimensions International's sale to Honeywell.
Chason also serves as a lead counsel to Macquarie Securities, a prominent international financial institution and a global leader in the ownership and operation of infrastructure assets. Chason has represented Macquarie in the acquisition of companies across a wide variety of asset classes, including aviation and aerospace (FBOs and MROs), toll road operations, chemical storage facilities and media properties.
Chason's prior experience includes serving as a corporate officer and general counsel for Applied Bioscience International Inc., a major public company engaged in clinical trial management and environmental consulting. As general counsel for Applied Bioscience, he was responsible for all securities counseling and merger and acquisition related representation.
Chason is actively involved in a number of organizations serving the technology and government contracting industries in the Mid-Atlantic region. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Northern Virginia Technology Council and the Board of Directors of the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce and is a cofounder of the Greater Washington Government Contractors Awards program.
Chason is listed in the Chambers USA 2005-2010 editions as one of the leading lawyers in the areas of Corporate/Mergers & Acquisitions in Virginia and Northern Virginia. In 2009 Chason also was selected by the Washington Business Journal as one of the Top Washington Lawyers for Corporate M&A.
