NVTC Honors Federal CTO Aneesh Chopra and Federal CIO Vivek KundraVirginia Governor Timothy M. Kaine Applauds the Recent Appointments and Recognizes Contributions of the New Federal Government CTO and CIO to the Commonwealth
HERNDON, VA, July 29, 2009 - The Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC), the largest technology council in the nation, together with the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP), hosted a reception last night highlighting the achievements and recent appointments of Aneesh Chopra as Federal Chief Technology Officer and Vivek Kundra as Federal Chief Information Officer.
On hand at the event was the Honorable Timothy M. Kaine, Governor of Virginia. In his remarks, Governor Kaine paid tribute to Kundra's and Chopra's years of public service to Virginia and highlighted how their respective backgrounds will serve them well in their new positions within the Obama administration. Prior to their new roles, Chopra served as Virginia's Secretary of Technology and Kundra was Virginia's Assistant Secretary of Commerce and Technology.
In addition to Governor Kaine, other Virginia notables were on hand at last night's reception. Patrick O. Gottschalk, Secretary of Commerce and Trade, Donna Morea, NVTC Chair and President, US and India, CGI, and Sudhakar Shenoy, former NVTC Chair and Chairman and CEO, IMC, paid tribute to the former Virginia cabinet members as they take on their new roles of developing and directing the nation's technology and policy initiatives.
