Become a Mentor Capitalist in the Greater Washington Region
The Entrepreneur Center @NVTC is continuing its series focused on educating current angel investors and potential new investors in the region. These nationally renowned workshops will be facilitated by John May of New Vantage Group and customized for the Greater Washington Region with local expert panelists as well.
The Power of Angel Investing is a series of education programs about angel investing, developed by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation with content provided by angel experts and angel group leaders from around the country. The Angel Resource Institute, the leader in educating angel investors, entrepreneurs, economic development professionals and other support service staff with the skills and training needed to successfully engage the angel investing process, distributes this education program.
The series is designed to provide tools and knowledge that encourage angels to become more active, share best practices, models, checklists and resources, to increase efficiencies and success in angel investing, and provide opportunities to meet angel colleagues and local experts. We focus on skills training and community building. Angels are encouraged to take all or individual programs in our 2012 series.
May 22 - Doing the Deal: Term Sheet Workshop
Angel investing is high-risk investing. Consequently, certain safeguards are understandable and appropriate. This three-hour advanced workshop facilitates in-depth discussions of the terms and conditions commonly used by angel investors in funding early-stage ventures. Our goal is to provide sophisticated techniques to serious angels.

Additional Power of Angel Investing Series WorkshopsJuly 11 - Valuation of Early-Stage Companies
This workshop is designed to educate and empower angel investors, entrepreneurs and the startup community about several methodologies used to value pre-revenue companies in an engaging and hands-on format. This workshop teaches three methodologies: The Venture Capital Method, The Scorecard Method and The Risk Factor Summation Method. In addition, this workshop explores the importance of, approaches and roles of returns and portfolio strategies to angel groups and will discuss how this knowledge is essential to your next deal. The workshop will then wrap up with an interactive case study.
