Greg Wheeless leads Truist’s Government Contractor Banking Group and Middle Market Banking Group which provide an array of financing and banking services to large and mid-size government contractors as well as commercial business throughout the Greater Washington Region.  Mr. Wheeless has been involved for decades in providing growth-oriented financing to businesses of all sizes to support their organic growth as well as their M&A activity. He is also actively involved with managing the team that advises clients on the delivery of the whole bank to clients including treasury, card, insurance, international, investment banking, and risk management services.   

Mr. Wheeless has enjoyed several decades in commercial banking in the Washington D.C. area.  Prior to Truist, he led Atlantic Union’s Government Contractor Group as well as Wells Fargo’s Government Contractor Group.  Before that, he was with Bank of America’s Government Contractor Group.   From the late 1980s until the late 1990s, Mr. Wheeless provided financial services to government contractors and commercial businesses while at Crestar Bank which is now part of Truist. 

Greg Wheeless has been active in the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce’s Government Contracting Council as well as the Professional Services Council.  He is also a member of the Association for Corporate Growth, and in 2009, Mr. Wheeless was honored to be awarded the Capital Provider of the Year Award from the Association for Corporate Growth’s National Capital Chapter. Mr. Wheeless was also awarded the Best of Reston Award in 2000 for his community involvement. 

Mr. Wheeless holds an MBA with a concentration in finance from George Washington University in Washington, DC and a BBA from Baylor University in Waco, Texas.  Greg and his wife have two adult daughters.
