Office Ergonomics and Assistive Technology

Paula K. Marin, OTR/L, Assistive Technology Specialist, Career Pathways for Individuals
Emily McKeough, Assistive Technology (AT) Access Coordinator, AT Act Program, Virginia Assistive Technology System (VATS).

Marin and McKeough will discuss office ergonomics, universal design and assistive technology within the IT field.

Paula Martin received her occupational therapy degree from the Medical College of Virginia in 1983. Martin has worked in inpatient/outpatient and vocation rehabilitation specializing in OT/AT and job accommodations for people with a variety of disabilities. She also worked in mental health inpatient and community reentry. She is now the assistive technology specialist for the Career Pathways for Individuals with Disabilities Project, a part of the Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitation. She has been an adjunct professor for several occupational therapy colleges and universities in Virginia. Martin has spoken at many conferences on AT including American Occupational Therapy Association, American Spinal Injury Association and the World Federation of Occupational Therapist.

Emily McKeough has considerable experience providing AT trials and evaluations, outreach and training on assistive technology devices and services on the local, state and national level. McKeough holds an undergraduate degree from Bridgewater College and a master's in assistive technology from George Mason University. During McKeough's professional career, she has considerable work experience providing AT services in educational (secondary and post-secondary), employment and community settings.
