CIT Dedicates Auditorium in Memory of Former NVTC Chair Dan Bannister

On Sept. 20, the Center for Innovative Technology (CIT) and NVTC hosted a celebration to recognize technology community leadership and to honor NVTC Chairman Emeritus and Founding Chair of the NVTC Foundation (now known as the Equal Footing Foundation) Dan Bannister, who passed away March 12, 2011. Bannister served as CIT chair from 2008 to 2011. During the event, CIT dedicated the Daniel R. Bannister Auditorium at the CIT Building in Herndon, Va., in recognition of his many contributions to the technology community.

The event included remarks from technology industry and policy leaders who shared their remembrances of Bannister and his impact on the region. CIT President and CEO and NVTC Board Member Pete Jobse led the tribute, which included heartfelt remarks by NVTC Chair Brad Antle of Salient Federal Solutions, Virginia Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling, Virginia Secretary of Technology Jim Duffey, NVTC President and CEO Bobbie Kilberg and current CIT Chair and Former NVTC Chair Dave Lucien of DCL Associates.

The event also included remarks from Bannister’s daughter Vickie Pasterak and a video tribute to Bannister, whose vision and commitment to the region's technology business community, extraordinary leadership and philanthropic accomplishments helped turn a fledgling local technology community into the cohesive and powerful force our region boasts today. His effect on Virginia’s technology industry will be felt for years to come.
