New Inova Center for Personalized Health to Launch at Fairfax ExxonMobil Campus

On Feb. 10, Inova Health Systems, an NVTC Board member company, announced that it would launch the planned Inova Center for Personalized Health at the ExxonMobil campus in Fairfax, Va. The 117-acre site will be anchored by The Inova Translational Medicine Institute (ITMI) and the Inova Comprehensive Cancer and Research Institute (ICCRI), providing a platform for the development and application of advances in personalized medicine through genomics.

During an event announcing the launch, Gov. Terry McAuliffe praised the agreement, lauding it as a “giant leap forward.” Other speakers at the announcement included Inova CEO and former NVTC Board member Knox Singleton; NVTC President and CEO Bobbie Kilberg; and Peterson Companies Principal and Chair Milt Peterson, who donated $10 million to the effort. Among other local business and policy leaders in attendance were NVTC Vice Chair Todd Stottlemyer of Acentia, who also serves on the Inova Health Systems Board; NVR Inc. Founder Dwight Schar, a key donor and supporter in the effort; and NVTC Board member Gerald Gordon, President of FCEDA.
