2013 NVTC Golf Tournament Benefits Equal Footing Foundation and NVTC Strategic Initiatives!
On Wednesday, Oct. 3, golfers enjoyed warm, sunny weather at NVTC's Annual Golf Tournament. Held at the 1757 Golf Club in Ashburn, Va., this year's tournament benefited NVTC’s Strategic Initiatives, including the NVTC Veterans Employment Initiative, as well as the Equal Footing Foundation, NVTC's charitable arm, which provides local area students with computer access, mentoring and opportunities to explore their interests in science, technology, engineering and math through seven computer clubhouses in Fairfax and Fauquier Counties.
Teams of top golfers from the region’s technology community competed in a full day of putting and driving on the links. The tournament offered majestic views of Broad Run and the beautiful Virginia landscape, along with challenging fairways. After the tournament's end, all enjoyed a fine catered dinner.
First place overall in the tournament went to the team of Steve Witt of of Freedom Bank, Tony Rizzo of Schneider Electric, Dave Trout of Secure IT, and Rich Sobonya of Freedom Bank with a score of 81. Second-place honors went to Gerry Jepson of Capitol Battery, Zach Spees of Capitol Battery, Dan Cooper of Time Warner Cable, and Al Nielsen of AOL. The third-place finishers were Steve Breiseth of True Tandem, Carl Krumpf of Integrated Financial, Pete Fitzsimmons of Silicon Valley Bank, and Sean Stone of Silicon Valley Bank.
