NVTC and NOVA SySTEMic Solutions Partner to Advance the Region’s Knowledge-Based Economy

Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) SySTEMic Solutions and NVTC recently signed a resolution of support and cooperation aimed at further advancing our region’s knowledge-based economy, which is driven by technology, innovation and collaboration with the business community. Created by NOVA in collaboration with school divisions, higher education institutions and employers in the region, SySTEMic Solutions’ goal is to provide science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education at all educational levels to meet actual workforce needs in order to develop a sustainable workforce.

Under the agreement, NVTC and NOVA SySTEMic Solutions will create measurable program activities that reflect the needs and interests of NVTC’s member companies and their employees to support a strong and sustainable pipeline of skilled STEM workers in Northern Virginia. NVTC also seeks to develop a distinctive role in the SySTEMic Solutions initiative that reflects its regional footprint across Northern Virginia.

SySTEMic Solutions is currently operational in Prince William County with active participation from NVTC Board member Micron. NOVA plans to scale the program throughout Northern Virginia. NVTC was instrumental in securing state-level funding of $1 million over two years for this program during the last General Assembly session. These funds will be matched by private sector investments to sustain and grow the program.
