Small Business and Entrepreneur Teaming Event Helps Small Companies Do Business with Prime Contractors
On Dec. 7, the Small Business and Entrepreneur Committee hosted its fourth annual Teaming, Partnering and Contracting event. The event focused on best practices for teaming in the government contracting space.

Seventeen companies from the region participated by talking with and educating emerging businesses about how smaller companies can do business with established companies, what types of partners they are looking for and potential opportunities for teaming in the future. The participating companies interested in partnering, teaming and subcontracting with small businesses at the event were: Acentia LLC, Attain, CACI, CGI, CSC, Deloitte & Touche LLP, Dovel Technologies, General Dynamics Information Technology, HP Enterprise Services, LMI, Lockheed Martin, MacAulay-Brown (MacB), MAXIMUS Federal, Northrop Grumman Information Systems, PNC Bank N.A.- Federal Services Division, SAIC and Serco Inc. Several prime contractors have already reported scheduling follow-up meetings with smaller companies they met during the event.

The event also featured two informative panel discussions moderated by Nick Wakeman, editor of Washington Technology. During the first panel, Attain Chairman and CEO Greg Baroni, Northrop Grumman Information Systems Civil Systems Division Director of Small Business and Partnerships John Long and MacAulay-Brown Director of Strategic Programs Timothy Lowman shared insights on various aspects of partnering with government contractors including best practices in building and maintaining relationships, and identifying and aligning capabilities. The second panel, consisting of HP Enterprise Services Senior Small Business Subcontract Management Specialist Elizalee Cocke and KEYW Corporation Technology and Mission Solutions Sector VP Doug Worthington, discussed teaming agreements including the timing, language and legal aspects.
