Local Nerds Race to Benefit Equal Footing Foundation at the 5th Annual Run! Geek! Run! 8k

On Saturday, Sept. 15, more than 700 members of the running and technology community participated in the 5th annual Run! Geek! Run! 8k benefiting the Equal Footing Foundation. The race reached its highest number of registrants to date, aided by the support of its sponsors and their race teams.

The cool, fall-like temperatures led to fast finishing times. Ryan Witters from Washington, D.C., won the race with a time of 24:57 ahead of D.C.’s Scott Allen with his time of 25:27. For the women, Barb Fallon Wallace of Alexandria, Va., took home first place with her time of 29:00 and Michelle Miller from Damascus, Md., completed the race course second in 29:11. Georgetown Running Club won the team competition, followed by teams from R200 and Howard Hughes Medical Institute finishing in second and third, respectively.
