NVTC Requests Support from Members of Virginia's Congressional Delegation to Oppose Changes to the Federal Definition of Commercial Items

On Monday, April 30, NVTC sent letters to Sen. Jim Webb (D-Va.), Congressman Scott Rigell (R-Va.) and Congressman Rob Witman (R-Va.) – Virginia’s delegation to the Senate and House Armed Services Committees – expressing opposition to a Defense Department legislative proposal that would revise the government-wide definition of the term "commercial item or service" under the federal procurement statutes.

NVTC believes that adoption of the Defense Department’s proposed changes could deny the government access to commercial products and services that companies provide to DoD and other federal agencies, which could negatively affect the region’s economy and government contracting industry.
