Virginia Named a Best State for Business by Forbes

For the second year in a row, Virginia is ranked second in Forbes’ list of “The Best States for Business,” after a four-year run ranked number one. The Commonwealth had high rankings for its educated labor force, pro-business regulatory climate and quality of life.

The Best States ranking measures six vital categories for businesses: costs, labor supply, regulatory environment, current economic climate, growth prospects and quality of life. Forbes factors in 37 points of data to determine the ranks in the six areas. Business costs, including labor, energy and taxes, are weighted the most heavily.
