CIT, NVTC and Technology Community Release Research and Technology Strategic Roadmap
The Center for Innovative Technology (CIT) – in close collaboration with the Secretariats of Technology, Education, and Commerce and Trade; members of the legislature; Virginia Economic Development Partnership; NVTC and other regional technology councils; colleges and universities; federal labs and research institutes; and Chmura Economics & Analytics – announced the release of the Commonwealth Research and Technology (R&T) Strategic Roadmap.
The Commonwealth will use the R&T Strategic Roadmap to identify research areas worthy of economic development and institutional focus. Opportunities uncovered in the Roadmap will provide elected and other public officials with information on technology sectors that show commercial promise, will drive economic growth in the Commonwealth and will be eligible for awards under the new Commonwealth Research Commercialization Fund (CRCF), which was allocated $6 million for fiscal 2012. Research and technology sectors eligible to receive funding for the CRCF include advanced manufacturing, aerospace, communications, energy, environment, information technology, life sciences, modeling and simulation, nuclear physics and transportation.
Awards from the Fund may only be made to applicants that align with these technology sectors and further the goals set forth in the Roadmap.
