NVTC Celebrates the First Graduates of Amazon’s Veterans Apprenticeship Program
On Thursday, November 15, 2018 Amazon Web Services (AWS) and the Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC) celebrated the completion of its first-ever East Coast Veteran AWS Apprenticeship cohort. Five Veterans are now full time employees of AWS as Associate Cloud Consultants. The program started with a 16 week tailored curriculum delivered by NVCC and then the Veterans bridged over to AWS in Reston, Virginia for one year of experiential learning, OJT and mentoring. The apprentices earned a series of high demand IT industry certifications including CompTIA Network+, Linux+, and AWS Solutions Architect.

The NVTC VEI assisted in building the applicant pool for this ground breaking program. There are currently two additional AWS Veteran cohorts in the pipeline with significant program growth planned for the future.
