NVTC Sends Letters to Members of the Prince William County Board of Supervisors
NVTC President & CEO Bobbie Kilberg sent letters last week to members of the Prince William County Board of Supervisors registering NVTC's strong concern with Provision 8 of a resolution introduced by Supervisor Jeanine Lawson which seeks to address a particular high voltage transmission line issue.
In the letter, NVTC indicated that the inclusion of Provision 8 greatly expands the scope of the resolution by calling for zoning changes targeted at data centers. NVTC is concerned that, if enacted, this provision will send a strong, negative message to the data center industry that will have a significant detrimental impact on the region’s economic competitiveness as a global destination for data center location, expansion and investment.
In the letter, NVTC urged members of the Board of Supervisors to remove Provision 8 from the resolution when it comes before the Prince William Board of Supervisors during their August 4 meeting and instead initiate a deliberative, stakeholder inclusive study process that is not tied to a particular high voltage transmission line issue as a much more positive and productive alternative to contemplate zoning changes that will impact data center development, expansion and investment.
