HP Donates to EFF Reston Clubhouse During HP Impact Day
On May 22-23, volunteers from NVTC Board member company HP donated their time to revitalize the facilities at Southgate Community Center and to assist the Equal Footing Foundation (EFF), NVTC's charitable arm, which provides local area students with computer access, mentoring and opportunities to explore their interests in science, technology, engineering and math through seven computer clubhouses in Fairfax and Fauquier Counties. The event, which started with the EFF Reston Clubhouse, grew into an entire community center event to build and revitalize the center, with a focus on the Reston Clubhouse’s library and computer lab needs.
“The HP Impact Day did not only help renovate space within the Southgate Community Center building,” said NVTC Board member Marilyn Crouther, senior vice president and general manager, U.S. Public Sector, HP Enterprise Services. “It will provide students with educational resources and an environment ripe for professional as well as technical development."

Over the course of two days, the HP volunteers cleaned and organized throughout the inside and outside of the center. HP also donated a $2,500 grant to further assist EFF. Volunteers from HP have also committed to a long-term relationship with the Reston Clubhouse as mentors.
"We are extremely passionate about identifying opportunities through our technology, industry partnerships and the expertise of our employees, to contribute positively to the lives of others," said Crouther. "As a long-time NVTC member, I am proud to support the Equal Footing Foundation in fostering youth education and empowering students to pursue careers in technology and become leaders within the community.”
In addition, EFF Board Member Ramunda Young of Barnes & Noble Booksellers and HP volunteers organized a book drive to benefit the Reston Clubhouse and the Southgate Community Library.
