Medicare, Technology and Opportunity: How the CMS Health Plan Performs and How You Can Benefit
A Presentation and Question and Answer Roundtable on Current Medicare Program Implementation

With over a billion claims filed each year, over a million certified providers and responsibilities that include payment, technology compliance, security enforcement, and more, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, as the largest HIPAA-covered health plan in the nation, is a critical part of how and when health care is delivered and paid for in the U.S. This event gave attendees an enhanced focus on many of the current issues in reimbursement and payment under the Medicare program, including technology challenges and contractor opportunities. Attention was given to each of the Parts A, B, C and D, with particular emphasis on how technology empowers CMS and its many fiscal intermediaries, carriers and other contractors to assure that maximum effort is made to provide quality and cost-effective care. The most recent initiative under HIPAA on retaining a contractor to engage in HIPAA security rule compliance reviews and investigations was addressed as, was other circumstances in which those in the private sector play a critical role in the activities and responsibilities of CMS.
