Larry A. Davis
Aronson Capital Partners
Larry Davis is a partner with Aronson Capital Partners and has more than 25 years of experience in mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and financings. He has worked on more than 40 transactions involving middle market companies. Notable transactions include the sale of Optimos to Acentia, Texeltek to TASC, Atlantic Coast Telesys to SAIC, AEPCO to VT Group PLC, and Capital City Technologies to Ernst & Young.
Davis is a frequent speaker at industry events and a sought after advisor to owners of emerging growth companies. Before founding Aronson Capital Partners, Davis was vice president of finance at DynCorp where he was a key participant in 15 strategic acquisitions constituting the nucleus of DynCorp's information technology practice. Prior, Davis was CFO of a middle market information technology services company that was acquired by DynCorp in 1990. Larry received his B.S. in accounting from the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business, and he is a board member of the Association for Corporate Growth National Capital Chapter.
Dana Duffy has more than 15 years of experience as a proven finance, accounting and executive leader in early and mid-stage companies. She is currently the CFO for Invincea, an early stage software company focused on endpoint security that provides a unified solution by containing targeted attacks, identifying existing compromises and re-establishing control by eradicating malware.
She previously served as CFO for NetWitness Corporation, which merged with RSA Security and was with CareFusion, which merged with Cardinal Health. She holds a J.D. from George Mason University School of Law and a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of New Hampshire. Duffy is a member of the District of Columbia Bar Association.
Select Venture Partners LLC
Michael Pratt has more than 40 years of experience in management and finance, in both domestic and international organizations, as well as more than two decades of involvement in the startup and venture capital industry. Pratt's experience includes early-stage company management, negotiation of strategic partnerships and alliances, and service on the Boards of Directors of several companies, including a public-traded corporation in New Zealand.
Pratt is the managing partner of Select Venture Partners LLC, an early-stage, post-seed/pre-Series A venture capital firm with an experienced team, all of whom have extensive cross-industry and cross-functional operating experience in software startups. He is also Lecturer in Technology Entrepreneurship at the Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park.
Prior to Select, Pratt co-founded and was CEO of SpydrSafe Mobile Security Inc. SpydrSafe was acquired in Feb. 2014. Prior to SpydrSafe, Pratt was the COO of CardStar Inc., a mobile loyalty company sold to Constant Contact (NASDAQ: CTCT). From 2006 to 2010, Pratt was the CFO/COO of Trust Digital Inc., a venture-backed mobile device management company sold to McAfee (NYSE: MFE). Prior to Trust, Pratt was CFO of Galt Associates Inc., a venture-backed software company sold to Cerner Corporation (NASDAQ: CERN) in July 2006.
Earlier professional experience of Pratt's includes CEO of CrossMedia Networks Corp.; CEO of Point of Care Technologies, which was sold to Siemens Healthcare in 1999 (ETR: SIE); and various senior finance and operations positions with Mobil Corporation in both domestic and international settings, including president and general manager of three Mobil subsidiaries. Pratt began his professional career with Arthur Andersen & Co.
Pratt holds a B.S. in finance from East Carolina University, a post-graduate degree in business administration from Massey University in New Zealand, and an M.S. in marketing from The Johns Hopkins University.
Norman A. Snyder III, CPA and CGMA, serves as the lead partner in Aronson's Technology Industry Services. With more than 30 years of experience, Snyder specializes in assurance, due diligence and consulting services for clients that include hi-tech companies, biotech companies, venture-backed companies, public companies, nonprofit organizations and other businesses.
Throughout his career, Snyder has enjoyed solving complex problems to help his clients. He left a steadily progressing career at a "Big 4" CPA firm to start a firm where he could serve middle market companies in a way that added true value, and he brought his audit practice to Aronson in 2008. Snyder enjoys working with technology entrepreneurs who are bright and passionate, but often face complex financial issues. As an analytic and creative thinker, Snyder uses his in depth understanding of the entrepreneurial landscape to help them solve these issues through practical solutions and sound business advice.
Snyder received his bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Maryland and, upon earning his CPA, Snyder was given the Elijah Watts Sells Honorable Mention Award. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Greater Washington Society of CPAs, the Virginia Society of CPAs and has served as the chair of the Assurance Services Committee of the CPA Associates International and currently leads Aronson's A&A Committee.
Snyder is also an active participant with NVTC, Mid-Atlantic Venture Association, the Tech Council of Maryland, and the Transaction Services Group of Praxity. Active in his community, Snyder serves as Treasurer for McLean Presbyterian Church and is an avid outdoorsman. On any given Saturday during the summer, you can find Snyder cycling to D.C.'s Maine Avenue Fish Market before enjoying an oyster breakfast on the back of his boat.
Razor's Edge Ventures
Mark Spoto is a managing director at Razor's Edge Ventures. Razor's Edge is a venture capital fund based in Herndon, Virginia founded by a group of entrepreneurs and executives from the national security industry. Razor's Edge has a unique understanding of the national security community's strategic priorities, and works tirelessly to identify and deliver disruptive technologies capable of advancing critical mission needs. The goal of Razor's Edge is to help innovative companies rapidly deliver unique capabilities to the government customers who need them.
Spoto focuses on investments in big data, sensors, autonomous platforms and components, space, and visualization, situational awareness and geospatial mission tools. Spoto presently serves on the Board of Directors of Razor's Edge portfolio companies 908 Devices and Mersive, and is an observer to the Board of Directors of Spaceflight Industries. He is also actively involved in managing the Fund's investments in Altamira and Zoomdata. Spoto is also responsible for the day-to-day business operations of Razor's Edge, including fundraising, limited partner communications and public relations.
Before joining Razor's Edge, Spoto was a partner at the national law firm of Cooley LLP, where he helped start the firm's Reston, Virginia office. Spoto has acted as a strategic advisor to numerous emerging and high growth technology companies and investment funds. His legal practice focused on mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and private equity, public securities offerings, and general corporate representation. Previously, Spoto was an aerospace engineer, working on the Air Force Titan IV rocket program for McDonnell Douglas Space Systems Company.
Spoto holds a B.S., summa cum laude, in aerospace engineering from Boston University and a J.D., magna cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center.
