Statement from NVTC in response to the attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021
The insurrection at the U.S. Capitol was an assault on democracy and goes against our country’s fundamental principles and ideals. We denounce this unconscionable behavior. Justice should be swift and severe for those who contributed to these acts of domestic terrorism and include those who, in positions of power and authority, used their words to incite the violence.
While peaceful protests are an essential part of democracy, we are a country founded on the rule of law. Wednesday’s riotous actions were shocking and un-American. This is not who we are. We are better than this.
We, as individual citizens, as well as members of the business and technology community, live by the democratic principles that are core to who we are as a nation.
We urge all leaders in government to unite to ensure a peaceful transfer of power. It is only then that our country can truly begin the process of healing and moving forward.
