New in 2023, NVTC's Communities of Interest (COI) join forces for our first ever Community of Interest Day! Featuring a series of collaborative events between our COIs, this day will include guest speakers covering a variety of topics relevant to the technology industry. Join us for an afternoon of informative conversation, networking, and more!

Is Cybersecurity the Achilles Heel of Digital Transformation? Most commercial and government organizations are moving aggressively to improve operations and grow revenue using digital technologies. For many, it is a digital transformation. But are we setting ourselves up for failure due to cybersecurity risks? This panel will present the lessons learned and best practices from real-world experiences on digital transformation and how cybersecurity must be embedded in the design and deployment of digital transformation initiatives.

Data Center and Cloud Event
Addressing the Data Center Talent Shortage: The Launch of a Two-Year Program at NVCC: The data center industry has been facing a looming talent shortage for several years. The number of employees in all data centers will grow from 2 million today to over 2.25 million in the next five years. Two ways to create conduits into this world is through education at the college level, and support from the existing workforce in the form of internships.  Come listen to a discussion on the creation of the only fully accredited two-year program in the U.S. at NOVA CC-including the timelines, hurdles, costs, and rewards. Also learn how you can become part of the program and the solution.

 

Workforce and DE&I
Workforce Recruitment & Retention with a DE&I Lens: This session aims to provide diverse perspectives, raise awareness, and inform on DE&I programs and tools available to NVTC members to advance recruiting and retention of talent. Speakers will educate on programs that engage students at the middle school through high school levels to promote interest in careers that are industry specific,  identify and recruit university and college students educated in technology related fields, personnel with the acumen and skills necessary to be highly successful, and engage transitioning service members and spouses. Furthermore, participants will learn how to leverage funding resources to upscale workforce, advance skills of community members from the bottom-up and attract high quality interns and apprenticeships.
