Thomas F. Farrell II is chairman, president and chief executive officer of Dominion Energy, Inc.
Farrell joined Dominion in 1995 and has served as an officer of Dominion and many of its subsidiaries. He was executive vice president of Dominion from 1999 to 2003 and president and chief operating officer from January 2004 to December 2005. In January 2006, Farrell was named president and chief executive officer of Dominion and was elected chairman of Dominion's board in April 2007. Headquartered in Richmond, Va., Dominion is one of America's largest utilities with a market cap of more than $45 billion and has more than 6 million utility and retail energy customers in 17 states. It has won numerous commendations for its hiring of veterans, and for its philanthropy and community service.
Farrell serves on the board of directors of the Edison Electric Institute where he was chairman from 2011 to 2012. He serves on the Board of the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations and served as chair from November 2012 until March 2016. He is on the board of trustees of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and chairman of the Richmond Performing Arts Center. He is the past chairman of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and currently serves on its board. He is past chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Virginia Business Council and a former member of the University of Virginia Board of Visitors, where he served as Rector. Farrell is the presiding director of Altria Group, Inc. and serves on the AEGIS Board of Directors.
He received his undergraduate degree in economics in 1976 and his law degree in 1979, both from the University of Virginia.
