Commercial Banking Market Leader
PNC Bank N.A.

Michael Matteson is senior vice president and Commercial Banking market leader for PNC Bank, a member of the PNC Financial Services Group. A 28-year veteran of the banking industry, Matteson oversees PNC's teams across the state of Virginia that serve companies with $5 to $100 million in annual revenue. These teams consist of 15 relationship managers and two group managers. Their primary focus is to provide a full scope of commercial banking services and advice to their clients. This includes a full range of lending capabilities from acquisition financing, equipment finance, working capital, ESOPs and real estate. In addition, his teams provide capital markets, treasury management and investment management services that consist of institutional and private banking solutions. Matteson also serves on PNC's Community Involvement Council of Greater Washington and is the Executive Sponsor of PNC's Emerging Professionals Employee Business Resource Group.

Prior to joining PNC in 2010, Matteson spent 20 years with Wells Fargo and its predecessor institutions (Wachovia, First Union and Signet) in a number of areas of increasing responsibility. He started his career in the retail and investment sales division while holding the series 7, 6, 63 and 65 licensure. This led to a stint in qualified plan sales and then into eight years as a business banking relationship manager. He subsequently served in a number of senior-level positions, including director of private banking and business banking sales director.

Matteson has a passion for helping businesses thrive. Over the past eight years, he has built PNC's commercial banking teams in Northern Virginia, Richmond and Hampton Roads. During that time the teams have earned greater market share and doubled their revenue contribution for the region. He has also played a key role in leading the bank's community outreach and investment in each region.

For 10 years Matteson was the president of the Board of the Loudoun Small Business Development Center. He also served on the finance committee and as an advisory board member of the George Mason University Enterprise Center and as a member of the Loudoun County Sustainable Energy Task Force.

Matteson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communication/Media Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University. He resides in Leesburg with his wife Jeannie and two daughters.
