Jim Sheaffer

Jim Sheaffer’s career spans 45 years providing business and information technology solutions and services to clients in the public and private sectors both in the U.S. and international markets.  His experience includes working for mid-sized as well as large scale companies and covers both diverse complex project management and the incubation of new technology solutions.  Mr. Sheaffer currently provides business and IT advisory services focusing on early stage companies in the information technology sector.

Prior to his retirement, he served as President of Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC's) largest operating unit, the North American Public Sector (NPS).  With annual revenue approaching $6B and more than 29,000 employees, NPS provided business and information technology solutions and services to support the missions of agencies of the United States Governments worldwide.  NPS’s business and operations ranged from cybersecurity and intelligence to logistics, health care, homeland security, and IT infrastructure.

Before joining CSC, Mr. Sheaffer spent 27 years with American Management Systems Inc. (AMS) – now CGI, a period during which the firm scaled up from fewer than 150 to more than 7,000 employees.  As a Senior Vice President from 1998-2002, he served as Chief Operating Officer for AMS’s telecommunications industry practice in North America and Europe and led the company’s entry into the Asia Pacific and Latin American regions. From 1990-98, as European general manager headquartered in Frankfurt, Germany, he led the expansion AMS’s operations in Europe where he created and built AMS’s business with financial services and telecommunications clients, ultimately operating from 14 offices in 11 European countries with more than 1,200 employees.

Mr. Sheaffer earned a BS degree in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago. He served as an officer in the United States Navy. He currently is Chairman of the Board of Directors for the American Red Cross in the National Capital Area.  He previously served as Vice Chairman for the Northern Virginia Technology Council.  He lives in Bethesda, MD.
