Technology Transfer and Innovation Forum Hosts Lesa Mitchell of Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation

Mitchell Discusses "Issues and Trends in Technology Commercialization"

Lesa Mitchell, Vice President of Advancing Innovation of the largest foundation in the United States that focuses on entrepreneurship, the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, was the featured speaker at the Technology Transfer and Innovation Forum held at George Washington University on March 12. This event was co-hosted by The Entrepreneur Center @NVTC and was attended by more than 40 people representing international governments and businesses and economic development authorities, as well as entrepreneurs from across the region.

Mitchell discussed the importance of building relationships between start-up companies, established large-scale firms, universities and the government. She said that "rock star entrepreneurs" focus on the relevance of a product to the marketplace and work closely with industry to better understand the needs and trends of the economy. Mitchell also noted that such collaboration enhances innovation and entrepreneurship and that a large number of U.S. jobs come from start-up and growth companies.
