NVTC has several programs and initiatives to help members meet their workforce development needs.
NVTC is launching an expanded effort to address the workforce challenges of NVTC members and the Greater Washington technology community. The NVTC Tech Talent Initiative aims to serve the needs of our members and the greater business community by exploring the current and future talent needs of the region's technology employers.
Launched in 2013, the NVTC Veterans Employment Initiative supports member companies in their efforts to recruit, hire, train and retain qualified Veteran and military spouse employees through:
- USTechVets.org: NVTC members get free access to over one million Veteran and military spouse resumes and free job postings on USTechVets.org, an online career support community designed to connect Veterans and their spouses to employment opportunities in the technology sector. The site also offers functionality to take jobs posted on your organization's website and automatically upload them to U.S. Tech Vets. Join the over 650 corporate recruiters already utilizing the site. Start posting open positions and connecting with highly-skilled Veteran and military spouse talent!
- VEI Scholars: Help launch a student Veteran's next career! VEI Scholars provides student Veterans from 14 NVTC member colleges and universities with professional mentoring and meaningful work-based experiences at NVTC member companies. Deepen your organization's connections to the academic community through the VEI Scholars Program. To start the process, identify your skillset needs and submit your internships to the VEI's job board at USTechVets.org.
- Regional Recruiting Events: The VEI partners with the Military District of Washington (MDW), Virginia Department of Veterans Services, Virginia Employment Commission and Veteran support organizations to host recruiting events to match Veteran-friendly companies with Veteran and military spouse job seekers. Unlike traditional job fairs where candidates circulate to employer tables, our events are uniquely designed to personally connect employers with small groups of Veterans in a round-robin format.
NVTC is proud to partner with SySTEMic Solutions, Northern Virginia Community College's (NOVA) program to develop a sustainable STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) pipeline in the region with the collaboration among school divisions, university partners, businesses and community organizations. SySTEMic Solutions engages students as early as elementary school and inspires and supports them to pursue STEM education into high school, NOVA, universities and into the workforce. NVTC has challenged its members to commit 10,000 volunteer hours in the coming school year to support students and teachers in K-16 STEM education through SySTEMic Solutions. Click here

Find your next intern with NVTC's directory of university intern programs. From internships to co-ops and part time positions, the region's top universities have provided essential information so that you can strengthen your workforce with the region's hardest working students.
The NVTC Job Board provides members the opportunity to post jobs and search resumes specific to the technology industry and our region. This unique, focused career center qualifies applicants before they are listed, taking away the need to sift through thousands of emails in order to find candidates with the right level of expertise and background for your company.
The NVTC Workforce and Education Committee is dedicated to helping member companies recruit, educate, and retain a world class workforce that is capable of creatively solving complex technology challenges and inspiring the entrepreneurial spirit of employees and organizations.
NVTC supports the Commonwealth STEM Industry Internship Program (CSIIP), a free, online tool, funded by the Commonwealth of Virginia and supported by the Virginia Governor's Office, which companies can utilize to find the interns of their choice from any accredited Virginia college or university.
NVTC advocates in Richmond for policies to boost Virginia's technology workforce through a robust science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education pipeline and by increasing the number of STEM certifications and degrees awarded statewide. Click here
