A Sold-Out Crowd Celebrates Hot Tech Companies at Summer's Hottest Party; Congratulations to the Hot Ticket Awards Winners!

Members of Northern Virginia's hottest technology scene gathered on Tuesday, June 28, for the 10th Annual Hot Ticket Awards at the home of NVTC President and CEO Bobbie Kilberg. More than 550 guests — a sold-out crowd — were serenaded by the island music of the Trinidad North Steel Drum Band and enjoyed barbecue and cocktails as they mixed and mingled poolside.

During the awards program, which was emceed by Steve Balistreri of "Smoking Hot Sponsor" Argy Wiltse & Robinson and Carl Grant of "Smoking Hot Sponsor" Cooley LLP, the following Hot Ticket Awards winners were announced:

The judges for the 2011 Hot Ticket Awards included: Mary Dridi, Edwin Miller of 9 Lenses, Gene Riechers of Valhalla Partners, Matt Schrader of Dutko Worldwide, Mark Spoto of Razor's Edge Ventures and Sever Totia of Edison Venture Fund.

The casual atmosphere was enhanced with the Annual Bob Dinkel Tropical Attire Contest. Contestants competed for the two grand prizes – $100 gift certificates to Tommy Bahama. Judges agreed, Anne Meree Craig of Berico Technologies and Dennis Noonan, Keith Schreiner, Tom Smith and Jerry Taggart of Nemacolin Woodlands Resort had the "best" overall tropical outfits of the bunch. The judges for the Annual Bob Dinkel Tropical Attire Contest were NVTC Board Members Bob Dinkel of Pierce Capital Partners LLC, Lisa Martin of LeapFrog Solutions Inc. and Evan Weisel of Welz & Weisel Communications.

Also during the event, Nemacolin Woodlands Resort gave away a two-night stay at the resort. In addition, Mike Kelly of AH&T and Michael Pushpak of Centuria Corporation both volunteered to jump in the pool in order to win gift baskets from Nemacolin.

To close the evening, Gov. Bob McDonnell joined this summer's hottest party and mingled with the Hot Ticket attendees to get to know Northern Virginia's entrepreneurial technology companies. Gov. McDonnell also announced that Virginia was ranked first in CNBC's 2011 Top States for Business Report.
