Consumer Electronics Association's Gary Shapiro to Keynote NVTC's Titans Breakfast Event

Controversial. Honest. Attacked by Lou Dobbs. Pro-Immigrant. Anti-protectionist. Technology Leader to Talk on Economy in Crisis and the Role of the Technology Industry

HERNDON, Va., March 3, 2009 - The Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC), the largest technology council in the nation, announced today that Gary Shapiro, President and CEO, Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), will keynote the Titans Series Breakfast on March 13.

From his thoughts on the government's handling of the financial crisis to free trade, Shapiro will lend his perspective on how these and other issues affect today's national and local technology market. In addition, he will make the case that technology is the linchpin of a thriving economy, and if action is not taken soon, there may be grave implications for the industry as a whole.

As President and CEO of a 2,200 member strong association, Shapiro is an outspoken leader and advocate on issues that directly affect the companies CEA represents. Most notably, Shapiro has been an active leader around the development, launch and marketing of High-Definition Television (HDTV). An active member of the technology community, Shapiro is chairman of the Home Recording Rights Coalition (HRRC) and has led manufacturer's legal and legislative battles to preserve the legality of recording technology and protecting fair use rights for consumers.
