Kesavan Will Discuss the Business and Environmental Benefits of "Going Green"

HERNDON, VA, January 23, 2008 - The Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC), the largest technology council in the nation, will host Sudhakar Kesavan, Chairman & CEO, ICF International, for a keynote speech on the benefits of "going green" before technology company executives from across the National Capital Region on January 30. ICF, a Fairfax-based leading policy, management and technology consulting firm, recently became one of the first professional services firms in the world to complete the commitments necessary to becoming carbon neutral. ICF has entered into a carbon offset purchase agreement, which when combined with other energy efficiency measures undertaken, will fully offset carbon emissions from its 23 offices worldwide by April 2008. Kesavan will address the following topics:

  • What is carbon neutrality, and why is it an important issue for businesses? How does this fit in with other green issues for companies?
  • What are the factors that go into making a carbon neutrality decision, including the business return? What's in it for companies?
  • What are the steps necessary to reach carbon neutrality and how does one sustain it?
  • What are some of the implications for non-industrial and high-tech firms in Northern Virginia?
