NVTC Working Group on GSA Presents Recommendations to GSA Administrator Lurita Doan
The Working Group Provided Recommendations for Improvement in the Areas of Acquisition, Technology, Shaping a 21st Century Procurement Strategy and Marketing(HERNDON, VA, Dec. 3, 2007) - The NVTC Working Group on GSA last week presented its recommendations to GSA Administrator Lurita Doan and senior agency officials. During the meeting, Working Group Leader Stephanie Ambrose, Vice President, CGI, led a presentation that focused on expanding GSA's role as a federal government leader on all acquisition-related activity and outlined NVTC's recommendations for improvement in the areas of acquisition, technology, shaping a 21st century procurement strategy and marketing.
Specific areas that Administrator Doan expressed interest in pursuing further were for GSA to establish a Web site to provide information about procurement regulations and pending legislation that would be available to all federal agencies, and to take the lead in promoting new technologies, including helping federal agencies adapt and align with new technology and establishing an acquisition center of excellence.
"I am delighted with NVTC's innovative suggestions," GSA Administrator Doan said. "Adopting best practices from the private sector will help GSA to become more entrepreneurial, more nimble, and more capable of delivering the highest possible value to American taxpayers."

After the meeting, Ambrose said that the Working Group was very pleased by GSA's response to the recommendations and is looking forward to continuing to work with GSA to bring the ideas into practice. In addition to Working Group Leader Stephanie Ambrose, Vice President, CGI, the other Working Group members include Esther Burgess, Vice President, SI International; Kitty Klaus, Program Director, EDS; Susan Turpyn, Practice Director, Unisys; and Kevin Wideman, Chief Operating Officer, Vistronix.
The Working Group was formed after Administrator's Doan's keynote presentation at an NVTC Titans Breakfast, at which she said that GSA would welcome feedback from Northern Virginia's technology community on recommendations to expedite the GSA procurement process and better methods to bring new, cutting edge technology innovation to the government from the private sector. Administrator Doan also welcomed feedback from NVTC on whether contractors are experiencing positive results due to the new GSA reforms and whether any mid-course corrections should be implemented, and any policy recommendations to shape a more 21st century procurement strategy for the U.S. government.
