Tech Councils Honor Local Chief Financial Officers at 10th Annual CFO Awards

Herndon, Va., June 8, 2006 - At a banquet of more than 850 financial professionals last night co-hosted by the Northern Virginia Technology Council and the Tech Council of Maryland with participation from the DC Tech Council, winners were announced for the 10th Annual Greater Washington Technology CFO Awards. These prestigious awards recognize chief financial officers for extraordinary achievement and excellence in promoting the development of the Greater Washington region's technology community.
"The winners and finalists recognized tonight are gifted financial executives and outstanding representatives of the Greater Washington technology community," said Bobbie Kilberg, President and CEO of Northern Virginia Technology Council. "Our region continues to set the standard for global technology excellence and each of our finalists and winners have set that standard of excellence in the financial arena."
An independent panel of financial leaders selected winners for each of the following five categories: Public Company CFO of the Year, Private Company CFO of the Year, Financier of the Year, Community Service Award, and the Michael G. Devine Hall of Fame Award.
"We congratulate tonight's winners who help us celebrate the tenth year of the CFO Awards," said Julie Coons, Chief Executive Officer of the Tech Council of Maryland. "Their extraordinary accomplishments keep the Greater Washington area among the nation's top technology power centers."
Paul Saleh, CFO of Sprint Nextel, was named Public Company CFO of the Year in recognition of the important role he played in the merger of Sprint and Nextel Communications in 2005. This award is presented to a chief financial officer for outstanding contributions to his/her public company's performance and accomplishments from January 2005 until present. The other finalists for this award were: Jeffrey Babka, NeuStar, Inc; Judith Bjornaas, NCI, Inc.; Stephen Hughes, SRA International, Inc.; and Arthur Locke, MicroStrategy.
Jorge Forgues, Senior Vice President and CFO of iDirect Technologies, was named Private Company CFO of the Year for his leadership during the company's acquisition last year by Singapore Technologies. This award is presented to a chief financial officer for outstanding contributions to his/her private company's performance and accomplishments from January 2005 until the present. The other finalists for this award were: Wesley Husted, Abraxas Corporation; Alan Stewart, ICF International; Patrick Walsh, iBiquity Digital Corporation; and Tom Weston, Apogen Technologies.
Arlington Capital Partners was named Financier of the Year for their numerous transactions last year, including four acquisitions and three add-on acquisitions and the sale of portfolio company Apogen Technologies. This award is presented to a venture capitalist, investment, merchant or commercial banker who has contributed to the economic development of the Greater Washington region's technology community. The other finalist for this award was: Tom Peltier, Stifel, Nicolaus & Company, Inc.
Kevin McNerney, Partner, Updata Capital, received the Community Service Award for his numerous community service endeavors, including his role as Chairman and co-Founder of "Swing for the Cure," a local charity dedicated to supporting breast cancer research and finding a cure. This award is given to a chief financial officer or financier who, in addition to excelling at his/her job, has given his/her time and energy to improving the Greater Washington region's technology community. The other finalists for this award were: Linda Gentry, Center for Innovative Technology; Tim Meyers, Updata Partners; Stephen Movius, Northrop Grumman; and Stephen Peck, Tatum LLC.
Michael Mancuso, CFO, General Dynamics, was honored with the Michael G. Devine Hall of Fame Award upon his retirement to honor him for his exceptional contributions during a long and distinguished career in the technology community. This award recognizes a chief financial officer or financier whose contribution has significantly and uniquely impacted the Greater Washington region's technology community during the course of his/her career.
