NVTC Vice Chairman Jim Duffey of EDS Honored with "The Federal 100 Private Industry Eagle" and the "Federal 100" Awards at Federal Computer Week Gala
Federal Computer Week Also Recognized Representatives of Six Other NVTC Member Companies with Federal 100 AwardsHerndon, VA, March 27, 2007 - Jim Duffey, a Vice Chairman of the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC) and Vice President and General Manager, Global Sales and Client Solutions - U.S. Government at EDS, last night was honored with Federal Computer Week's "Federal 100 Private Industry Eagle," along with one of the "Federal 100" awards at a gala at the Ritz-Carlton Tysons Corner in McLean, Va.
The Eagle awards are presented to one private sector executive and one public sector official for their exceptional contributions to the federal information technology (IT) community. The Eagle honorees are chosen from individuals nominated for the Federal 100 awards, which honor individuals who have made outstanding contributions to this community during the past year.
According to the Federal Computer Week Web site, Duffey was recognized for his charitable contributions, which have "made a difference in the federal information technology community." He is a member of the board of directors of the Hoop Dreams Scholarship Fund and is a director of the EDS Foundation, which donated $50,000 to Hoop Dreams last year. In addition, Duffey "was instrumental in EDS' support for small businesses. Under his leadership, EDS fostered mentor relationships that helped small businesses become established in the federal market," according to Federal Computer Week.
In her introduction to Duffey at the gala, NVTC Chairman & CEO Bobbie Kilberg said: "Jim is a tireless advocate on behalf of small and disadvantaged businesses in the government market. Under his leadership, EDS partners with diverse companies through its mentor-protégé program, a nationally recognized, award-winning initiative that provides guidance to these businesses so they can compete equitably in the marketplace."
Duffey has worked for EDS for more than 17 years. As Vice President and General Manager of EDS' U.S. public sector business, he is responsible for the company's federal, state and local government clients in both the defense and civilian sectors. Duffey leads an organization of more than 10,000 employees who support about 350 customer accounts worldwide.
In addition to Duffey, Federal Computer Week honored six representatives from NVTC member companies with Federal 100 awards: Donnie Blanks of Perot Systems Government Services, Robert Blaum and Chuck Corjay of CACI, Jean-Paul Boucher of SRA International, Inc., James Cook of The MITRE Corporation, and John Marshall of CGI Federal.
