NVTC Industry Panels Analyze Technology Priorities in President Obama's American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009
Panels Look at Federal, State and Local Agency Program Funding Across Key Technology Sectors
Herndon, Va., March 24, 2009 - The Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC), the largest technology council in the nation, announced today that a distinguished panel of local technology leaders will gather to discuss how priorities laid out in President Obama's American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 will have an impact on our local economy.
The Economic Stimulus package contains nearly $50 billion in information technology spending. Within the package it includes funding to encourage the adoption of electronic health records, the expansion of broadband Internet access, the research of energy efficient technologies, the modernization of federal agency IT systems and the expansion of Statewide Education Data Systems, etc.
During these sessions, panelists will share their insights into federal agency program funding, how funding will flow to state and local governments, how agencies would execute funding, when the spending will occur, what technologies will benefit the most, and finally, how government contractors can help support these requirements. Both panels will be moderated by Trey Hodgkins, CAE Vice President for National Security & Procurement Policy Public Sector Group, TechAmerica.
