NVTC produced the 12th Annual 2008 Greater Washington Technology CFO Awards Banquet honoring chief financial officers for extraordinary achievement and excellence in promoting the development of the Greater Washington region's technology community. Awards were given in the following categories: the Michael G. Devine Hall of Fame Award, Public Company CFO of the Year, Private Company CFO of the Year, Division/Group CFO of the Year and the Community Service Award. The banquet, held at the Hilton McLean in McLean, Va., was attended by over 800 technology executives from the region.

Mike Daniels was honored with the Michael G. Devine Hall of Fame Award. This award recognizes an extraordinary leader whose contributions have significantly and uniquely impacted the region's technology business community during the course of his or her career. Mr. Daniels rose to industry prominence with SAIC where he served as a member of the senior management team from 1986-2004 and helped build SAIC to the current $8 Billion in annual revenues with 44,000 employees. While at SAIC he identified and purchased Network Solutions for $4.7 million in March 1995. He led Network Solutions through a successful initial public offering in 1997, a second offering in 1999, and a follow-on offering of $2.3 billion in January 2000 - one of the largest technology equity offerings in history. Five years after the purchase of Network Solutions, he was instrumental in its sale on SAIC's behalf for $19.6 billion. Network Solutions contributed $2.2 billion in cash to SAIC, the largest transaction in SAIC's 37 year history. Mr. Daniels is former Chairman of Network Solutions (1995-2000), former Chairman and CEO of Mobile365 (2005-2006) and former Chairman of the Northern Virginia Technology Council and as the president and chairman of the Board of the National Capital Area Council Boy Scouts of America. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Sybase, Luna Innovations, GlobalLogic, the Northern Virginia Technology Council, the Virginia Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Washington Board of Trade.
The Public Company CFO of the Year Award went to Steve Vintz of Vocus (NASDAQ: VOCS) for his outstanding contributions to his company's performance and accomplishments from January 2007 to the present. Mr. Vintz oversees all financial, legal, HR and administration functions and has led the company through a period of rapid growth and expansion, including an initial public offering, a 2007 follow-on offering and three acquisitions. Under his leadership, Vocus has received accolades for its financial success including Washington Business Journal's fastest growing companies and 11 consecutive years among the Deloitte Fast 500 list of fastest growing technology companies in North America. Vocus was recently named by Forbes's as one of the 25 Fastest Growing Technology Companies.
The honor of Private Company CFO of the Year was given to Wayne Wilkinson for his work at Athena Innovative Solutions, Inc. This award is presented to a CFO for outstanding contributions to his or her private company's performance and accomplishments from January 2007 to the present. Mr. Wilkinson's responsibilities at Athena included strategic planning, corporate development and business operations. During his time at Athena, Mr. Wilkinson was the chief architect in turning a struggling company into one of the most sought after companies in its market space culminating in a sale to CACI in October 2007.
William T. Powers III of Rolls-Royce, North America , was the honoree of this year's new award, Division/Group CFO of the Year, which is presented to the CFO of a significant division or business unit that is located in the Greater Washington for his or her outstanding contributions to his organization's performance and accomplishments from January 2007 to the present. Mr. Powers is responsible for all Rolls-Royce, North American finance functions, including accounting, treasury, corporate development, business assurance, corporate risk management, taxation and sales finance. He also serves as a member of the Rolls-Royce North America Holdings Board of Directors and its Government Security and Audit Committees.
Mark Simione of Noblis was honored with the Community Service Award, which is presented to a financial executive or technology organization that raises the bar for philanthropy, or otherwise helped improve the quality of life, in the Greater Washington region. Mr. Simione serves as a member of the Endowment Investment Committee of the Board of Trustees of Merrimack College as well as President of United Cerebral Palsy of D.C. and Northern Virginia. Also, Mr. Simione is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Friends of Barker, an adoption agency in the Maryland, Virginia, and DC areas, managing the endowment fund for the foundation through the Board of The Friends of Barker.The Greater Washington Technology CFO Awards are a joint endeavor of the four accounting firms of Deloitte, Ernst & Young, KPMG and PricewaterhouseCoopers. The chairman of this year's awards program was Ernst & Young, represented by Greg Kuykendall, Partner.
The nominations were reviewed and honorees chosen by an independent Selection Committee comprised of Jim Allen, Jeff Babka of NeuStar, Bob Baer of Targetjobs, Kevin Burns of Lazard Technology Partners LLC, Jorge Forgues of Avail Media, Ron Kaiser and Steven Shallcross of Vanda Pharmaceuticals.

Registration
All attendees must have a paid registration to enter an event. Advance registration and payment is required. Pre-registration will close 24/48 hrs prior to the event. Once pre-registration has closed, all registrations will be considered a "walk-in registration" and will be assessed an additional fee to any payment rendered. Events for which payment is not required will not be assessed this fee. For sold-out events, no walk-ins will be accepted.
Cancellations
Cancellations must be made in writing and sent to events@nvtc.org more than two business days in advance in order to receive a refund. No-shows will not receive a refund.
