SEC Chairman Chris Cox: Leading the Charge and Managing Changes
An update on Financial Reporting, Regulatory Matters including Sarbanes-Oxley, and Other Current Issues
After serving in Congress for 17 years, Christopher Cox assumed the role of Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in August 2005. In his first year at the SEC, Chairman Cox has made vigorous enforcement of securities laws the Agency's top priority. He has assumed leadership of the global effort to provide investors with interactive data about companies and mutual funds, and reinvigorated the agency's initiative to provide important investor information in "plain English". He is also championing efforts to more closely integrate U.S. and overseas regulation in an era of global capital markets. Attendees heard from the SEC Chairman himself, regarding these various initiatives.
