Business Development, Marketing & Sales

The NVTC Business Development, Marketing & Sales Committee educates and connects the region's high-tech sales, business development and marketing professionals through high-energy events. The "Excellence in Sales and Marketing" series consists of monthly forums where expert speakers provide updates on critical trends in the industry and offer compelling real-world case studies. In addition, the committee hosts two workshops per year that bring together high-level, accomplished individuals to expand our network of key people.

Business and Enterprise Architecture Committee

The mission of the Business and Enterprise Architecture Committee is to provide awareness and thought leadership in architecture and planning for business and IT success. The committee will facilitate an idea exchange among IT executives by, generating awareness through events and seminars on important architectural approaches, issues and solutions; providing a forum for business and technology leaders to exchange their ideas, experiences and concerns; creating an environment to share information about modeling, methodologies and tools; bringing together a focused networking group.

Business to Government (B2G)

The NVTC B2G Committee enhances and facilitates business development opportunities for NVTC members with the federal government, the Commonwealth of Virginia and other Northern Virginia government entities. The B2G Committee encourages new membership by providing high-content programs, information exchange, and business and networking opportunities. Participants enjoy a forum to share their views about relevant issues affecting their business with government entities.

Capital Formation

The NVTC Capital Formation Committee undertakes highly focused initiatives and activities, including programs to foster economic development in the region, attract the attention of the capital markets to the region and to NVTC members, and to provide NVTC companies with increased access to private and public capital at all levels of financial development. The Capital Formation Committee helps oversee several subcommittee events including Meet the Capital Players and Private Equity Series. These subcommittees develop and produce targeted events that foster mutual understanding of access to capital at all stages, for all types of companies, and provide excellent networking opportunities.

CFO Forum

The NVTC CFO Forum provides content and contacts to NVTC member company CFOs by hosting informative events throughout the year through its two subcommittees: CFO Series and the Greater Washington Technology CFO Awards Banquet, NVTC's annual awards dinner honoring CFOs from the Greater Washington Region. Please note: Participation in the CFO Forum is limited to CFOs and sponsors.

Entrepreneur Center

Programs Committee of the Entrepreneur Center

The Programs Committee of the Entrepreneur Center supports and promotes emerging technology businesses focused on growth and entrepreneurs launching businesses by providing content-driven programs that focus on issues such as corporate structure, financing, business development and other topics of interest to meet the challenges of establishing, growing and scaling businesses. The committee educates, promotes strategic alliances, addresses the concerns of these businesses and provides excellent networking opportunities.

Education Committee of the Entrepreneur Center

The Education Committee of the Entrepreneur Center assists in the coordination and preparation of the educational programs that address the needs of start-up entrepreneurs who are refining their business ideas, writing their business plans and seeking to grow sustainable high-impact companies.

Membership Committee of the Entrepreneur Center

The Membership Committee of the Entrepreneur Center identifies and introduces prospective start-up members to NVTC and helps entrepreneurs and small companies find the appropriate opportunities for participation within NVTC.

General Counsel

The NVTC General Counsel Committee fosters networking opportunities and the exchange of business, leadership and legal information for NVTC general counsels and provides mentoring in legal areas for emerging technology companies.

Green Technology and Energy Task Force

The task force is focused on establishing best practices in energy efficiency, sustainability procedures and growing, attracting, and retaining leading "green" technology companies. The goals of the task force are to educate NVTC member companies about best practices in the green technology and energy space, monitor legislation in the Commonwealth that addresses green and energy issues, and work to make Northern Virginia a place that attracts businesses and investments in the green and energy conservation areas.

Health Technology

NVTC Health Technology Committee, with its new BioMedTech Subcommittee provides NVTC members with education, networking, and business and government opportunities to participate in and benefit from the increasing use of electronic health information and technology in the delivery of and payment for healthcare. The BioMedTech subcommittee will focus on informing members of the latest trends in bioinformatics, biotechnology, medical devices and medical software. Among the areas of focus for the Committee are using computer technology for health information, improving the quality and efficiency of healthcare, tech transfer, growing Northern Virginia's healthcare technology workforce and interfacing with NoVaHealthFORCE. Members of the Health Technology Committee and the BioMedTech subcommittee include technology suppliers, health care providers, researchers, scientists, hospitals, payors, consultants, technologists, educational institutions, public charities and employers providing workforce health care benefits.

International

The NVTC International Committee fosters relationships with international businesses in the region by proactively providing intelligence, programs, access and counsel to NVTC members. The committee helps technology businesses successfully tap into the thriving international technology marketplace. Through meetings, events and hosting foreign delegations, the committee keeps the Northern Virginia technology community current on global trends in technology policy and promotes the region's technology community to an international audience.

Public Policy Steering

The NVTC Public Policy Steering Committee was launched in October 2006 to replace the NVTC Government Affairs Committee. The steering committee collects, discusses and evaluates legislative issues and initiatives important to Northern Virginia's technology community and vets a broad range of technology issues suggested by NVTC members, policymakers and others in the community. The committee prioritizes those issues to produce the NVTC Legislative Agenda, which is then reviewed and approved by the Board of Directors. It also provides guidance to the Board in adopting more detailed organizational positions on issues of particular importance. In addition, the committee serves as an important resource to the NVTC staff lobbying team—providing advice, direction and feedback on legislative matters.

Social Media Committee

Our mission, first and foremost, is to promote NVTC as a leader in social media. The group will strive to embrace this new medium and adapt to its ever changing environment. Through educational forums and insightful dialogue with NVTC members, the Social Media committee will become a valuable resource for those in the Northern Virginia technology community who want to use social media tools to improve how they communicate with key audiences. While there is a need to understand more about the tools that make up the social media landscape, most importantly, it is about what tools are the best fit for businesses and how they fit into a company's overall goals. NVTC's Social Media committee will address these very issues that are top-of-mind with the members.

Technology Innovations

The mission of the new NVTC Technology Innovations Committee is to serve as a resource, facilitator and thought leader to address a broad range of information technology-related opportunities and issues of interest to NVTC members. These opportunities and issues include those affecting both providers and users of a broad spectrum of communications technologies, services and applications of information technology, and others involved in related industry. The Technologies Committee holds regular events that feature guest speakers on topical subjects, where members can evaluate and discuss the associated technical, security, legal and social developments and implications. If you have an innovative product or service that would benefit our members by providing lower costs, greater security, built-in agility, real mobility or a unique benefit, you should join the Technologies Committee!

Telecommuting Task Force

The NVTC Telecommuting Task Force promotes telecommuting strategies that provide for operational continuity, greater productivity and reduction in both overhead costs and labor turnover, while at the same time providing employees with a better balance of work and family life.
