BioMedTechThe NVTC BioMedTech Committee offers healthcare IT professionals information on the latest trends on a variety of topics, from biotechnology, medical devices and traditional pharmaceuticals to bioinformatics and medical software through educational and networking events, including the committee's signature event: the Human Genome Party.

Business Development, Marketing & Sales
The NVTC Business Development, Marketing & Sales Committee educates and connects the region's high-tech sales, business development and marketing professionals through high-energy events. The "Excellence in Sales and Marketing" series consists of monthly forums where expert speakers provide updates on critical trends in the industry and offer compelling real-world case studies. In addition, the committee hosts two workshops per year that bring together high-level, accomplished individuals to expand our network of key people.

Business to Government (B2G)
The NVTC B2G Committee enhances and facilitates business development opportunities for NVTC members with the federal government, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and other Northern Virginia government entities. The B2G Committee encourages new membership by providing high-content programs, information exchange, and business and networking opportunities. Participants enjoy a forum to share their views about relevant issues affecting their business with government entities.

Capital Formation
The NVTC Capital Formation Committee undertakes highly focused initiatives and activities, including programs to foster economic development in the region, attract the attention of the capital markets to the region and to NVTC members, and to provide NVTC companies with increased access to private and public capital at all levels of financial development. The Capital Formation Committee helps oversee several subcommittee events including Meet the Capital Players and Private Equity Series. These subcommittees develop and produce targeted events that foster mutual understanding of access to capital at all stages, for all types of companies, and provide excellent networking opportunities.

CFO Forum
The NVTC CFO Forum provides content and contacts to NVTC member company CFOs by hosting informative events throughout the year through its two subcommittees: CFO Series and the CFO Awards Banquet, NVTC's annual awards dinner honoring CFOs from the Greater Washington region. Emerging Business & Entrepreneur (EB&E)
The NVTC Emerging Business & Entrepreneur Committee supports and promotes emerging technology businesses focused on growth and entrepreneurs launching businesses by providing content-driven programs that focus on issues such as corporate structure, financing, business development and other topics of interest to meet the challenges of establishing, growing and scaling businesses. The committee educates, promotes strategic alliances, addresses the concerns of these businesses and provides excellent networking opportunities. The committee has monthly informational programs which are free of charge to NVTC members. These programs include a networking segment and a featured speaker or speakers on relevant topics.

Executive Forum
The NVTC Executive Forum brings NVTC member company C-level executives together for unique networking events that include interesting presentations and intellectual discussions in markets of interest. The committee hosts three to four events and several invitation-only dinners each year. Membership on the committee is limited to C-level executives.

The General Counsel Committee fosters networking opportunities and the exchange of business, leadership and legal information for NVTC General Counsels and provides mentoring in legal areas for emerging technology companies.

Health Technology
The NVTC Health Technology Committee provides NVTC members with education, networking, and business and government opportunities to participate in and benefit from the increasing use of electronic health information and technology in the delivery of and payment for health care. Among the areas of focus of the committee are: using computer technology for health information, improving the quality and efficiency of health care, and growing Northern Virginia's health care technology workforce and interfacing with NoVaHealthFORCE. Members of the Health Technology Committee includes vendors, suppliers, health care providers, hospitals, payors, consultants, technologists, educational institutions, public charities, and employers providing workforce health care benefits.

International
The NVTC International Committee fosters developing relationships with international businesses in the region by proactively providing intelligence, programs, access, and counsel to NVTC members. The committee helps technology businesses successfully tap into the thriving international technology marketplace. Through meetings, events, and hosting foreign delegations, the committee keeps the Northern Virginia technology community current on global trends in technology policy and promotes the region's technology community to an international audience.

The NVTC Membership Development Committee works closely with NVTC's Membership Department to cultivate prospective members, encourage members to renew their membership, review and research potential new benefits of membership, and welcome new members and encourage them to become actively involved.

Nanotechnology
The NVTC Nanotechnology Committee promotes the development of the nanotechnology industry in the Greater Northern Virginia region. The committee works with regional academic, government, and industry entities to facilitate establishment and growth of nanotechnology infrastructure, institutions funding, and educational capabilities and resources to foster growth in nanotechnology. In addition, the Nanotechnology Committee provides networking and educational programs, with the goal of assisting entry into the nanotechnology industry and its business opportunities.

New Media Technologies
The NVTC New Media Technologies addresses business opportunities, strategies and technology issues surrounding the emerging market of digital media technologies. New Media Technologies showcases enabling technologies that deliver, measure, monitor and house digital content, which, in recent years, has expanded to include Web pages, product data, audio and video devices and even code. From online collaboration to pushed streaming videos – subcommittee events will educate the membership on the ever-changing ways in which media is disseminated and focus on the relevant technologies that directly impact the market.

Private Equity
The NVTC Private Equity Committee assist entrepreneurs, early stage companies and Venture Capitalists in the region by providing value added seminars on recent developments, market trends and fundraising strategies.

Public Policy Steering
The NVTC Public Policy Steering Committee was launched in October 2006 to replace the NVTC Government Affairs Committee. The Steering Committee collects, discusses, and evaluates legislative issues and initiatives important to Northern Virginia's technology community and vets a broad range of technology issues suggested by NVTC members, policymakers, and others in the community. The committee prioritizes those issues to produce the NVTC legislative agenda, which is then reviewed and approved by our Board of Directors. It also provides guidance to the Board in adopting more detailed organizational positions on issues of particular importance. In addition, the committee serves as an important resource to the NVTC staff lobbying team-providing advice, direction, and feedback on legislative matters.

Security
The NVTC Security Committee serves as the focal point within NVTC for the advancement of personal, information and physical security. The Security Committee independently promotes and coordinates with other NVTC committees to inform and educate NVTC members on security-related issues.

Tech Emergence
Tech Emergence serves as a resource and facilitator for addressing a broad range of technology and telecommunications-related areas of interest to NVTC members, including emerging technologies and latest innovations affecting providers and users of both new and traditional telecommunications services, information service providers and others involved with and interested in the information technology industry. Tech Emergence will hold regular events featuring guest speakers on topical subjects, and examine technical, and legal developments in the industry.

Telecommuting Task Force
The NVTC Telecommuting Task Force promotes telecommuting strategies that provide for operational continuity, greater productivity, and reduction in both overhead costs and labor turnover, while at the same time providing employees with a better balance of work and family life.
