Director, State Government Affairs
Anne Gavin is the Director of State Government Affairs for Microsoft for the Mid-Atlantic Region, where she manages relationships with policy makers in 5 states and 3 municipalities including state and local legislative and executive branch relationships as well as Attorneys General. Anne also serves as the primary liaison with state based membership organizations including the Republican Governors Association (RGA), Democratic Governors Association (DGA), and National Governors Association (NGA) and serves as a liaison for her team with Microsoft's State and Local Public Sector sales groups. Prior to working for Microsoft, Anne was a Director of the Governor's Office of Federal-State Relations for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. At the Massachusetts Governor's Office, Anne served as the primary liaison between the Governor and the Commonwealth's congressional delegation, the White House, federal government agencies and the nation's Governors. She was responsible for building coalitions and advocating for execution of the Governor's federal agenda. Anne's professional background also includes a political appointment at the U.S. Department of Transportation under President George H.W. Bush, a stint as Press Secretary for the Republican National Committee in 1994 and Communications Director for the 1996 Republican National Convention. Anne has also been involved in multiple state and local political campaigns.
Anne is a graduate of Boston College where she earned her B.A. in Speech/Communications and is also a 2002 graduate of the University of Virginia's Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership. Anne recently served on the Transition Committee for Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell and also was appointed to the Governor's Commission on Economic Development and Job Creation. Anne resides in Reston, Virginia and is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Technology PAC of the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC).
