Gary G. Pan, President and CEO of Panacea Consulting, Inc. ("Panacea"), founded the 8(a), Small and Disadvantaged IT consulting services firm in 1990. The firm has grown to annual revenues of $14M and maintains a commitment to, and reputation for, quality information systems implementations. Panacea's core competencies support telecommunications, systems development, system administration and operations, and information management. Representative federal clients consist of the U.S. Department of Labor, Social Security Administration, U.S. Postal Service, U.S. Army, Smithsonian Institution, U.S. Department of Commerce, General Services Administration, and U.S. Customs Service. Commercial vendors supported by Panacea include Titan; Compaq; Wang; Viatech Systems, Inc.; Systems Planning Corporation; U.S. Sprint; Unisys; and Sun Microsystems.Mr. Pan's professional experience combines management consulting with advanced technical solutions. Prior to 1990, Mr. Pan led an international, government, and commercial enterprise that provided support in the areas of information systems, process reengineering, trade policies, venture-capital opportunities, and publishing. With the U.S. Department of Commerce Trade Commission, Mr. Pan has traveled to Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, Singapore, and Malaysia to develop joint-venture opportunities and discuss trade policies.
Mr. Pan was recently appointed to the Board of the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC). He is also on the coach of the Entrepreneur Center at NVTC, where it focuses on mentoring a generation of new technology entrepreneurs. Mr. Pan is also on the Board of the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts and the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation (MSF) to promote activities. He also represents the Greater Washington Board of Trade on the Management Team of MetroTech, a regional workforce development initiative that assists unemployed community members migrate to technology positions through employer-driven, customized training partnerships. In October 2001, Washington Techway recognized Mr. Pan as one of the region's "Top Managers." He also serves on the Board of Directors for the National Capitol Area branch of Junior Achievement, an international organization committed to teaching young people about business, free enterprise, and entrepreneurship.
He earned his MBA with a concentration in International Management from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, VA, and his B.S. in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Legal Studies from Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA. Mr. Pan is currently pursuing a Ph.D on Management with concentration on the Organization Leadership & Entrepreneurship at the University of Phoenix.
Mr. Pan, an athletic zealot, has led a cycling team for over 15 years, completing 150-mile weekend rides in support of the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. He enjoys coaching youth lacrosse and serving as an adult leader for the Boy Scouts of America. He is a recovered "snowboard dude" who has transitioned to "free-heeling." Mr. Pan lives in Great Falls, VA, with his wife, Wendy, and their three sons.
