Mike Daniels is former Chairman of Network Solutions (1995-2000), former Chairman and CEO of Mobile365 (2005-2006) and former Chairman of the Northern Virginia Technology Council (largest technology council in the United States).Daniels rose to national industry prominence with SAIC (New York Stock Exchange) where he served as a member of the senior management team (Senior VP and Sector VP) from 1986-2004. He sold his company to SAIC in 1986 when SAIC had revenues of $500 Million and helped build SAIC to the current $8 Billion in annual revenues. While at SAIC he identified and purchased Network Solutions for $4.7 Million in March, 1995. He led Network Solutions through a successful initial public offering (IPO) in 1997 and a second offering in 1999. In January, 2000, Daniels led Network Solutions in a follow-on offering of $2.3 Billion, one of the largest technology equity offerings in history. Five years after he purchased NSI, he was instrumental in the sale of Network Solutions on SAIC's behalf for $19.6 Billion. Network Solutions contributed $2.2 Billion in cash to SAIC, the largest transaction in SAIC's 37 year history.
Daniels began working part-time for SAIC in May, 2004 and was asked to join the Board of Directors of Apogen Technologies in McLean, Virginia in May, 2004. He worked closely with the CEO and executive management team and Arlington Capital Partners of Washington, DC in the firms roll-up of two firms and Apogen was built into a $200 Million annual revenue business. Apogen was sold in September, 2005 to Qinetiq of the UK (London Stock Exchange) for $300 Million in cash. See Apogen.com for details of the company.
Daniels was selected in a national executive search to become Chairman of the Board of Mobile365 in May, 2005. He worked closely with the CEO and the executive management team to build the company. He was asked by the BOD to also be CEO and served as Chairman and CEO beginning in December, 2005. He worked with the Board of Directors to reposition the company and in November, 2006, Mobile365 was sold to Sybase (New York Stock Exchange) for $417 Million in cash. In addition to the above, Daniels has served on the Board of Directors of Telcordia Technologies (1998-2003). Formerly Bellcore, this company was purchased by SAIC in 1997 for $650 Million and sold in 2003 to private equity firms for $1.3 Billion. He served on the Board of Directors of Verisign (NASDAQ) from 2000-2001 following the sale of Network Solutions to Verisign in 2000.
Daniels has served with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) of the U.S. Department of Defense, on numerous international commissions and advisory boards, serving on the United States Trade Representatives International Investment Policy Advisory Commission, as a U.S. National Commissioner to UNESCO, as a senior White House Advisor on International Technology and a Senior Advisor to the National Security Council.
He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC), the Virginia Chamber of Commerce (serving as Vice Chairman) and the Greater Washington Board of Trade.
