Anne K. Altman
General Manager, Mainframe Platform
IBM Systems and Technology Group

Anne Altman is general manager of the Mainframe Platform organization in IBM's Systems and Technology Group. Here, she is responsible for the mainframe platform's worldwide strategic direction, marketing and technology development. Anne assumed leadership of IBM's mainframe platform organization after serving as managing director, U.S. Federal, where she led an organization of 5,000 IBM professionals committed to providing information technology and business process solutions to U.S. federal government clients. Ms. Altman has more than 25 years of experience working within the Federal marketplace to help government officials address IT and organizational challenges.

Altman joined IBM in 1981 as a systems engineer working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Department of Justice. During her tenure with IBM she has gained extensive experience in software, hardware and services capabilities specifically designed for government agency clients. In 1993, Ms. Altman led the business development organization of IBM's federal services business and two years later was named software sales executive for federal government customers. In addition to her extensive background serving the federal government, Ms. Altman has held a number of executive positions outside that market to include global software sales and global marketing. In 2001, she was named managing director, U.S. Federal, with full business management responsibilities for all aspects of IBM's federal business.

Altman has delivered congressional testimony on behalf of IBM on topics ranging from e-government to national security. She is an active participant in a number of government-related review boards, working with organizations such as the National Academy of Public Administration, The National Science Academy and the Private Sector Council. Additionally, she is the recipient of several industry awards, including Federal Computer Week's Top Federal 100; and Eagle Award, AFFIRM Leadership Award for Industry, and the CIO Council's Azimuth Award for the Industry Executive of the Year. Ms. Altman is frequently quoted on government trends in industry trade publications and major media; most recently her leadership was profiled in The Washington Post (October 2006), Washington Technology's Top 100 Government Contractors (May 2007) and SIGNAL magazine (March 2007).

Altman currently serves on the boards of the Government Electronic Industry Association Executive Committee, Armed Forces Communications Electronics Association Executive Committee, the National Symphony Orchestra, the Northern Virginia Technology Council, George Mason University's Board of Visitors and the James Madison University Executive Advisory Council and the National Kidney Foundation.
